GROUP DESCRIPTION: Healing Hearts Behavioral Health Care chose to utilize the Too Good Evidenced Based Curriculum because the delivery of information alone rarely changes behaviors, and because other informative or emotional appeal strategies like didactic lectures, scare tactics, alarming statistics, or infrequent or single event presentations have proven to be ineffective in reducing or deterring risky behaviors in children and youth. Additionally, Too Good takes a skills-based approach to prepare children and adolescents to make healthy responsible decisions.

GROUP DESCRIPTION: The self-esteem and empowerment is a group catered to women and teens who are lacking the motivation and confidence to achieve your goals. This group will help clients embrace their inner and outer beauty and decrease their comparison to other and society expectations. The group will also help with support and accountability. As the group leader I will provide inspiration and empowerment to help assist clients on their journey. The members will identify goals, minimize your distractions, create healthy habits, and find your purpose.

GROUP DESCRIPTION: This group will cover topics that will help individuals understand the process of transitioning from one stage of life to the new stage. They will learn techniques for identifying root cause of anxiety, identify strengths, interests, and passions. The group will complete inventories or survey to assess where they are during their transitions and what they need. They will explore ways to re-invent themselves and prepare for the next exciting season. Each participant will learn the steps to grieve their losses and create a vision board for their future. They will learn ways to take steps in practical ways to move towards the goals they created.
DC - Men of Vision Exemplifying Righteous Scholarship (M.O.V.E.R.S.) (Age Group) 19 - 22 years old (College)

GROUP DESCRIPTION: The current condition that we find Afrikan American males in throughout society is alarming. Their participation in penal institutions is significantly greater than their involvement in educational institutions. Their representation in the mortuaries/cemeteries is high whereas their representation at college graduation is low. The current climate of police brutality and other racailized attacks on Black males has contributed to an increase in mental duress among them. Suicide attempts are increasing among Black teens. This suggests that there is a crisis in American society that needs to be addressed. A time such as this calls for creative programming to address population. The M.O.V.E.R.S. Program/Group is designed to be an innovative intervention that enhances the self-perception and academic attainment Black men attending college . The MOVERS Program/Group is developed for all freshman and first –time males attending the University. The objective of the program/group is to infuse within the first year males attending a university with a feeling of purpose, identity, and direction. The MOVERS Program does this through the process of didactic and experiential activities that allow freshman males to explore their purpose for attending college, identifying their personal talents and the contribution that they desire to make within society. The result of this in not only a psychologically well-balance Black man but the program increases that likelihood that Black male will stay in college and graduate. This will increase their feelings of self-worth and through their participation in the world of work their mental wellness will be fortified.
OK - EMPOWER Girls: She's Different (Age Group) 12 -13 years old (Middle School) 14 - 18 years old (High School)

GROUP DESCRIPTION: This is a group for girls who feel like they typically don't fit in "the group". It is for adolescents struggling with self-image, identity issues, body dysmorphia. It is a space for those who get It is an affirming group for the diverse experiences of those who identify as a Black girl. Using the EMPOWER model, participants cognitively restructure their thoughts around being different and coping with difficult emotions. This group will use evidence-based strategies to address the spectrum of anxiety, anger, and depression that girls feel when marginalized.

GROUP DESCRIPTION: Our goal for this group is to allow participants a safe to process feelings that they have been experiencing during the pandemic not limited to Covid-19, but also distant learning/work, social, political, and economic impacts. We will also teach coping strategies for managing anxiety, by teaching breathing techniques and leading guided meditations.

The main objectives of this group are: a) to provide basic psychoeducational information about the process of grief and loss, b) to normalize participants’ bereavement experiences, c) to increase awareness of community resources designed to support adolescents, d) to give adolescents an opportunity to share their personal story of grief and loss, and, e) to foster a sense of social support. The concepts presented in Healing For The Young & Grieving Heart are intended to build on one another, with each group meeting drawing upon content from the previous meetings. The initial meeting plans introduce basic information about the bereavement process, and allow participants to personally apply this learning. Later groups focus on identifying and expanding upon personal strengths, social supports, and community resources in order to enhance participants’ ability to cope with their loss.

GROUP DESCRIPTION: Teaching Teens to Thrive is a therapeutic program for teens to embrace purpose driven and promise focused mindsets. This program positions teens to thrive versus survive. Over the six-week sessions, teens will learn how to: • Establish confidence based on their identity • Replace negative cognitions with positive affirmations using a Cognitive Behavioral Approach • Learn calming and self-regulating techniques using EMDR protocol techniques • Set goals and create plans to execute and be successful. Teens will experience an environment that fosters engagement and promotes safety and inclusion. Teens will learn that value of listening to understand versus listening to resolve to communicate clearly as they execute their goals and plans. Students may take the opportunity to work 1:1 with a licensed therapist to present their goals and receive feedback on executing them for success. After this program, students will celebrate personal growth and success that builds character and promotes confidence.

It is just one of the many crisis intervention techniques which are included under the umbrella of a Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) program. The CISD process does not constitute any form of psychotherapy and it should never be utilized as a substitute for psychotherapy. It is a supportive, crisis-focused discussion of a traumatic event (which is frequently called a “critical incident”). It aims at the reduction of distress and restoration of group cohesion and unit performance.

GROUP DESCRIPTION: T.S. Therapy Group has offered Individual, Family and Group Therapy services to youth and adults ages 5-80yrs old for 1 year. T.S. Therapy Group brings family groups together in order to discuss coping skills, possible home activities to hold the youth accountable for chores and other responsibilities at home, and offering education to parents and guardians on understanding their child’s diagnosis, characteristics of the diagnosis and what coping strategies to use in order to help the youth at home.
